Salsa Dancing Leeds – Salsa Rocks Social
Why do we take lessons?
The simple answer: so we can really get out there and dance – and enjoy it even more.
Social salsa dancing is where everything comes together. It’s the moment we unwind, leave work and daily stresses behind, and reconnect with the reason we started dancing in the first place: the music, the movement, and the people.
At weekends, Yorkshire is spoiled for choice with big salsa socials. During the week, Leeds stays alive with classes ranging from Crossbody to Cuban salsa, hosted everywhere from intimate studios to the lofty upper floors of venues like Kerala and Revolución de Cuba. Venues may come and go, but Salsa Rocks is proud to be different – a long-running class and social that has called the same venue home for over 10 years.
At its heart, a salsa social is about connection. Bringing like-minded people together to meet, dance, laugh, and lose themselves in the irresistible rhythms of salsa – a genre whose classic tunes span more than four colourful decades.
That’s why at Salsa Rocks we offer up to two hours of social dancing every Wednesday, completely free for class attendees, or just £3 if you’re dropping in purely to dance.
From 10pm every Wednesday, DJ Mark Johnson takes over the decks in the Kerala Restaurant function room, transforming the night into one of Leeds’ busiest and friendliest midweek salsa socials.
Expect the biggest, tastiest scoops of salsa, generously laced with bachata and cha-cha, a soundtrack designed for dancers, not background noise.
Whether you’re a salsa virgin or a seasoned addict, come immerse yourself in the rhythms, find your groove, and really put your moves to the test. Mixed-music nights don’t always quite hit the spot – but this is a salsa social that truly feeds your salsa addiction.
Bring your dance shoes, your friends, and your biggest smiles.
Let’s set the dancefloor on fire.
