The Workshop
An intensive 2 hour workshop suitable for all levels and styles. A perfect opportunity to work on your groovy Cha Cha rhythm and funky Pachanga! Like all our workshops, this workshop will go beyond just walking you through footwork and partnerwork routines and offer you intuitively applicable knowledge and tips that you can put into your dancing straight away!
Rough breakdown of workshop:
1:00 - 2:00 pm: Cha Cha footwork and a bit of partnerwork. Understanding how salsa moves relate and translate to Cha Cha moves with some simple rules. Also a quick breakdown of the basics for those new to Cha Cha.
2:00 - 2:30 pm: Pachanga - Getting the movement right. The knees, the lean, arms and the Pachanga Face as a bonus!
2:30 - 3:00 pm: An exciting fast paced Pachanga + Cha Cha footwork routine that will push you hard!!

About the instructors
Laucinda & Gareth have trained with several Mambo / Salsa teachers & performers, including an ‘Arts Council’ funded training week in 2003 with Frankie Martinez & private training / performance experience with Emma & Mushi of Salsology, plus they are UKA Licentiate qualified Salsa teachers. They are continuously investing in their training having spent time in New York brushing up on their ‘Santo Rico’ techniques & Afro-Latin body movement with ‘Abakua’. Together, they run the ‘Encuentro Latino’ Dance Company in York. They teach weekly ‘New York Cross Body ‘On1’ & ‘On2’ classes as well as guest teaching & running socials. Such is their devotion to their students, they spent much of 08/09 preparing some of their advanced level for performance experience. Their student show ‘Ran Kan Kan’ went down a storm all over the north. Plus they are proud to have performed in ‘Dansopolis’ at the West Yorkshire Playhouse & at ‘GB Sexp’ II. Laucinda & Gareth have also taught at International Congresses: Mambocity 5 Star International Congress 12' & 13', The UK Congress 06', Britfest 06’ & 07’ & The Great British Salsa Experience 08’, 09’ & 10’. Their most recent show ‘Vacilon’, choreographed & directed by Laucinda & Gareth was well received & performed all over from the Midlands to the North East!

Laucinda Roberts
Laucinda aka Lossie was trained at the London Studio Centre where she studied Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary Dance, Music and Theatre.
It was during this time that she performed in the West End and toured with a Theatre Company. She has been teaching, performing and choreographing dance for 24 years with a wide variety of people. She started teaching and performing Salsa in 2000.
Gareth Roberts
Gareth studied Flamenco at the ‘Greenwhich Dance Agency’ in London. He received a BA Honours Degree in Dance covering a variety of dance related topics including choreography, anatomy, contact improvisation, stage production.
He performed in various shows including the Edinburgh Festival. He then went on to train at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance where his studies included, Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Contemporary Music. He started teaching & performing Salsa in 2002 & also teaches Contemporary Dance having recently passed an audition to work for 'Dance united'.
